statement pieces are often as individual as the wearer, celebrate that uniqueness by buying something that was ethically made and created especially for you
sometimes your dream piece is too big for a fresh piercing, custom order allows us to pierce with simpler jewellery, giving your piercing time to settle and mature while your jewellery is meticulously made
you're able to explore more colour palettes and combinations than are readily available in studio whilst using pieces in the cabinets for frame of reference on size or colours.
Here is some helpful information
We will benefit from being able to meet in person as I can help discuss your ideas and guide you to pieces that fit your requirements best. If space in the piercing location is limited, for example, I will be able to tell you if something will fit and show you some pieces of similar sizes/shapes for points of reference.
I can assist with endless ideas for themes and colour schemes, point out any important things I think you should know about your intended design- such as how the piece might rotate and sit in a certain position or how certain shapes will suit and flatter different anatomy.
Additionally, once I have enough specifics from you I can calculate price quotes for your favourite pieces. There is no commitment to buy at this time unless it is something you are quite sure on and I have all the relevant details. If that's the case,
I will fill out a digital custom order form listing the specifics of each piece (size, gauge, gold colour and carat, gemstones, additional notes) as well as a break down of the amount piece by piece, then totalled and you will receive a copy of this which you will approve or reject if you notice an error.
Custom orders are required to pay 50% value to move into BVLA's production phase and this is non refundable or transferrable. Wait times across our industry have increased drastically throughout this year and, as such, I can make no promises that pieces will arrive by a certain date or have any control over the lead times. Allow a window of at least 25-35 weeks for pieces ordered this way.

Gemstones come in a huge array of groups and types... I could talk about that all day. From classical (diamond, sapphire, emerald, ruby etc) to more specialty and unusual pieces like tourmilated quartz (black and white photo), zawadi sapphire (glittery brown photo)- each gem has different characteristics and recommended care.
If you're invested in specialty jewellery you will also want to assure it's well cared for. Any pieces with pockets or textured areas (such as sandblasting [purple cluster]) we advise getting a personal ultrasonic which will vibrate build-up and debris off your pieces, often making them look brand new again. A (new) soft bristle toothbrush head on an electric toothbrush can work wonders too- though cannot be safely used on every gem.
Please ask our advice before rigorously cleaning your jewellery as there are exceptions to every rule. For example- organics like Pearl are not something we will order unless you request it due to it being a soft mineral and therefore risk of damage through abrasion is heightened.
Copper turquoise (purple and gold pear, pictured) has a tendency to gently oxidise over prolonged exposure to moisture so would not generally be suitable for daily wear. Whilst we are and always will be forthcoming about these specifics it's not intended to put you off- more to inform you of potential risks and demonstrate how different gems react. BVLA do offer a resetting service where, if we order a piece and it begins to tire, we can send it back for repairs/replacements though a small service fee will be incurred for this and a potential charge for new gems if they're of higher value than the ones being replaced.
If you'd like to learn more about your favourite gemstone and are considering getting pieces that feature it, we're happy to share what information we have as well as advice regarding how best to highlight your gems of choice- some pieces look amazing no matter the cut or size but other gems really become elevated when you display them properly.
Labradorite (yellow pear with gold rays) and Rainbow Moonstone (pear gem with blue tones) are two perfect examples. Both these gems belong in the feldspar family and have a special feature of throwing out 'flashes' of colour from specific angles. Sometimes it can be harder to locate the flash if the piece is small, as there is less opportunity for light play and refraction. For this reason, we would generally suggest gems like these be chosen at sizes 2mm and above. Pieces shown in 4mmx2.5mm pear cut.
